My last day at Mullen was yesterday. It felt really frickin' weird to pack up all the shit in my office and say g'bye to my favorite peeps. I will miss seeing them everyday but will keep in touch.
New Year's was a fun time! We had a bunch of our friends over, had a delicious pot-luck dinner (thank you guys for taking the time to make/bring all of those dishes!) and watched the ball drop at midnight having a really good time! MUCH better than last year! yay!
Work starts tomorrow on glamming up the upstairs of our condo, starting in the bedroom. We're mudding the ceiling to get rid of the swirly pattern that's currently there. Then shopping begins for crown molding, door casing, a ventless fireplace for the bedroom and wallpaper. Oh, and probably some paint. Good times.
Two new minor addictions: re-runs of 'Scrubs' and listening to Radio Nigel streaming on iTunes. Awesome!
Going to see National Treasure 2 tonite. Can't wait for POPCORN!!!

I quit my job yesterday...HOLY CRAP!!!
I gots a new one that I start on January 7th. It's at a company called AMP. They're a youth marketing agency that's starting an interactive team in their Boston office (N. Station). It's only a hop onto the commuter rail. More money. Better title. Great peeps.
I will miss Mullen, I've been there 7+ years, but it's time to move on. YAY!!!

I found this one today: I rear-ended a car this morning. So there we are alongside the road and slowly the driver gets out of the car . . . and you know how you just get sooo stressed and life seems to get funny?
Well, I could NOT believe it ... he was a DWARF! He storms over to my car, looks up at me and says, "I AM NOT HAPPY!" So, I look down at him and say, "Well, which one are you then?"... and THAT'S when the fight started ...

YIKES. More snow, argh! We had to tromp through it this morning to go to the store for food (cuz we haven't shopped in weeks) and to get coffee. Forrest is making Guinness beef stew in the crock pot so that we can have it during the football game.
Two-day work week this week, yay! Good thing: I'm SO behind in my shopping. I just want to get it over with, xmas over & done with and then onto New Year's Evil. We're having guests this year, fun! Last year's NYE kind of sucked. I'd rather spend a low-key evening of dinner/drinking and ringing in the new year with a handful of good friends than to be at a party with a lot of peeps I don't know and that I have contempt for.
Anyway, lots of pending life news expected in the next few weeks. I'll let you know when I know!

It's Saturday and I'm on vacation all next week! whoo hoo!
Been a busy bee-girl: last weekend we did an early Thanksgiving dinner for my in-laws since they will be in Spain for turkey day. Things went smashingly, the food was edible and I now have the confidence to pull off serving dinner for 12 this Thursday.
I went to acupuncture the other night because my stress levels have been off the charts. I've had a eye twitch for a few months now. The last time I had been there was in May, so I told her about how crazy my life has been. It's funny because I'm always a little skeptical when I go in there but I end up feeling awesome when I leave.
Yesterday we got a new sofa and loveseat for the livingroom delivered. Finally, comfy and roomy couches to sit on, yay! They weren't supposed to show up for a few more weeks so I'm happy to have the seating now for Thanksgiving like I was hoping for.
Last night we headed out for our usual Friday night dinner outing. We went to the Bangkok for drinks and jazz. FF ordered a Rusty Nail (in a small glass). The bartender didn't quite know the proper proportions and when we told him he ended up giving FF one that was 3 drinx worth-YIKES! (Of course, that didn't stop him from slugging most of it away. *grin*) Then we headed over to Edgewater Cafe for some mexican. We were supposed to hook up with one of our friends after but ended up crashing out. Because we're old...sad.
Today, we shop! We have to pick up a new rug and a tv stand to complete the livingroom!

Yet another Salem Halloween under my belt!
Every weekend this October was just insane. I'm looking forward to have the freedom to come and go as I please on the weekends again. I'm also looking forward to not having people banging on my window when they see my black kitty sitting in it and to not have them try to walk in my house when I leave. We should have charged a cover.
Last night was fun though. I don't think I have seen that many people in town before. Completely insane. We dressed up and walked around town, scared little kids (and some adults) had a few pops and went home to clean up and hit the hay.
Here's what we looked like:

And now can see all of our pics from last night!

There are just too many people around town and I am now hiding in the house. We tried to walk around a little bit yesterday but then we got overwhelmed and came home. The other night there were singing pirates in front of the house and yesterday someone set up their vending table right outside my front door. We actually hit their crap when we opened the door. Today they are set up farther away from the house.
Last week our autumnal house warming party was a SMASHING success! We had a steady stream of people from 12:30 in the afternoon and the last people left around 1:45 am. It was awesome! Thanks to everyone for being SO generous (our bar is stocked!) and hanging out at our pad. We loved seeing everyone and hope to do it again next year (although maybe not during Halloween season since parking was such a bitch for everyone). If you missed the party for whatever reason, I think we're going to have to have an after-party party because we have a TON of leftover beer that needs to be imbibed!
Oh, if anyone is interested the Salem Cinema is showing some freaking AWESOME movies that need to be seen on the big screen starting next week! So, if you're interested let us know. It would be great to get a group together. Check it out:

Today marks 4 years since FF's accident. We're "celebrating" by watching the football game later and eating sausage subs.

Spookytown is amping up for the upcoming season! The town has decorated all the trees and poles with corn stalks and orange ribbon, all of the local businesses are littered with pumpkins and ghosts and the seasonal vendors are setting up shop.
I've been a busy busy girl the past few weeks. I've been slamming at work and in my spare time working and marketing rippin-kitten.com. They finally picked up the Vulcan Custom this week after letting me keep it for a month. It was a nice bike, but I did miss my Volusia.
We're having trouble with one of our d-bag neighbors (who isn't even a neighbor that lives next door-she owns a business). She doesn't like where we park our motorcycles, even though where we park is private property and deeded to our building. She's called the cops on us multiple times and even the parking clerk for the city has paid us a visit. He was a decent guy and all, but now FF has to have a meeting with him tomorrow to show him our condo docs that show the area next to our building is private. Don't people have anything BETTER to do?

Friday night: we went to see Halloween. It wasn't a bad movie at all, I just wish that it wasn't a re-imagining of the original. We ate a giant tub of popcorn and slurped down an equal sized root beer (that was our dinner!). It was fun. I think we've been to the movies more this year than any other.
Saturday: plans for an all day ride on my temporary new toy didn't happen so we did "house" type things.
Sunday: my parents came up to Salem for the day because my mom hadn't seen our place yet. I'm happy to report that she loved it, which is great because we're planning on having Thanksgiving this year. That night we hung out with a couple of my siblings, drank beer and watched Devil's Rejects again.
Yesterday: we were slugs. YAY!

This week has been pretty exhausting and surreal. My grandmother's wake and funeral were on Monday and Tuesday. Thinking of her being gone has hit me a little harder than I expected. Out of all of my grandparents I spent the most amount of time with her when I was little. It's going to be weird to imagine holidays without going to her house.
So, things are starting to get back to normal. My head's not really been into being at work so thankfully today is a quiet Friday. Rippin Kitten takes up a lot of my spare time, but the work is starting to pay off. I'm getting a lot of visits to the site and people are starting to take notice. I even did my first video post last weekend (I know, I'm a dork.)!
We have a packed weekend coming up: painting our hallway tomorrow, tomorrow night we're heading to Kagawa in Q-Town for my sister Sara's birthday and then on Sunday my siblings and my cousin, Tina, are coming up to spend the day in Salem. Should be fun!
I know it's only 10 am, but I could use a cocktail...

My grandmother passed away last night.
She is the third death in our family this year, but I think her passing will have the most impact. She has been living with cancer the past few years and has come back from the brink of death many times. She was a tough, tough lady.
My mother had taken her into her house to take care of her two months ago. A 24 hr. nurse became necessary last weekend. I'm glad I got to see and talk her last Saturday while she was still lucid. Her decline was quick after that.
But, I think we're going to be sending her off with style-unlike my grandfather who wanted a small service, she signed up for the whole she-bang: wake, funeral mass complete with "O Danny Boy" (even though she's not Irish) and party after.
xoxo Nana.

...needs to go away.
Deaths (and pending) in the family, massive exodus at work, financial strain and to top it all off stupid Salem meter-maid put a ticket on my motorcycle that's parked in our designated parking area. GRR. Everyone must die.
I need to get away. My right eye has been twitching for a week now.

I'm totally exhausted, mentally and physically. I promised myself that I would relax tonight with a hefty cocktail and a hot bath. Instead I had ice cream and watched the World Series of Pop Culture. I should be in bed right now but I think I'm too tired to sleep. Totally overtired.
Got more bad news: my aunt passed away yesterday. She lost her battle with cancer and she was only in her early 40s. I feel so sad for all of her kids (and 2 grand-kids) and my uncle who lost his father a few months ago and now his wife. Wake is tomorrow night and the funeral is on Saturday. I've gone to way too many of these this year, I'd really like to not have to attend anymore this year.

I know it's been forever that I've been promising some pics of the condo so I threw up the photos from the inspection. That means that all the stuff you see inside the place isn't ours, it's the previous owners.
Here's some pics.
I should also have a little video tour of the place up soon (maybe tomorrow)!

Engaged, married and buying a home within a year is exhausting (in addition to less happy news of loved-ones passing). I think I'd just like to coast for a while from now on. I need a little bit of fun back in my life.
